Mind Of Mine – ZAYN (Album)

Hi! :)

As you all probably know, Zayn Malik quit One Direction a year ago. His first solo album was released on 25th March, and there was a huge hype around it. I thought it would be fun to tell you which songs I like the most from the album.

Zayn’s new music is definitely different from what he was involved in for years. I’m not sure if I am a fan of this style of music, but it’s not a bad album at all. I’m sure he will be pretty successful on his own (he already is to be honest), too, because his tunes are very likable and catchy. I enjoy listening to his music a lot though, especially to the songs that are my favourite. The release date is a bit ironic, because that’s the exact date of when he left the band last year. The album cover is a picture of him from his childhood plus some of his current tattoos edited on him. The capitalization of the song titles is very unique and kind of reminds me of Margo Roth Spiegelman‘s from Paper Towns. Here are the songs, my favourites being highlighted.

35b1058f9ccfc69ddaadd33eee29c6c2-960x960x1

  1. MiNd Of MiNdd (Intro)
  2. PILLOWTALK
  3. iT’s YoU
  4. BeFoUr
  5. sHe
  6. dRuNk
  7. INTERMISSION: fLoWer
  8. rEaR vIeW
  9. wRoNg ft. Kehlani
  10. fOol fOr YoU
  11. BoRdErSz
  12. tRuTh
  13. lUcOzAdE
  14. TiO
  15. BLUE
  16. BRIGHT
  17. LIKE I WOULD
  18. SHE DON’T LOVE ME
  19. PILLOWTALK – the living room session
  20. PILLOWTALK REMIX ft. Lil Wayne and Jaegen

I feel like looking at my most preferred songs of the album, I’m leaning more towards the slower-paced songs, which usually isn’t like me. My absolute favourites are iT’s YoU and fOol fOr YoU, they both sound amazing and beautiful. Which song do you like the most from Mind Of Mine? Let me know in the comments below! You can listen to this album on Spotify or you can buy it on iTunes. See you soon! :)

All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend – AURORA (Album)

Hi! :)

I discovered AURORA a very long time ago and have been enjoying her music ever since. I was incredibly excited about her debut album coming out in March. In my opinion she is an artist who simply never makes a bad song. There is something unique in each and every song of hers. The whole All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend album feels magical and I love listening to it. There’s a mix of slower and more dinamic tunes on the album, which makes it even more interesting. She wrote some of these when she was very young, around about 12 years old even. She is one of my all-time favourite artists, and she never disappoints.

all_my_demons_greeting_me_as_a_friend

I thought I would share my most favourite songs of her album, however it wasn’t easy to not choose all the 17 songs as my most loved ones, haha. I will highlight the songs of the album I like the most.

  1. Runaway
  2. Conqueror
  3. Running With The Wolves
  4. Lucky
  5. Winter Bird
  6. I Went Too Far
  7. Through The Eyes Of A Child
  8. Warrior
  9. Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)
  10. Home
  11. Under The Water
  12. Black Water Lilies
  13. Half The World Away
  14. Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) (Acoustic)
  15. Nature Boy (Acoustic)
  16. Wisdom Cries
  17. Running With The Wolves (Pablo Nouvelle Remix)

Runaway was the first song I heard of hers and has stuck with me ever since. She wrote it at a very young age, which astonishes me – that she created something so beautiful being so young and innocent.

Conqueror is one of the quicker-paced songs of the album. I love the strength of it, I always feel so powerful after listening to it.

Winter Bird is one that I often catch myself singing. The lyrics are beautiful.

Warrior is another poweful song, and I especially love the rhythm of this tune, it’s very catchy.

Black Water Lilies is my absolute favourite at the moment. It is pure magic. You just have to listen to it, it feels angelic.

Half The World Away is an Oasis cover, which was written for the John Lewis Christmas commercial. I listened to this song hundreds of times and could not get enough of it. I think she did justice for the original song.

Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) sounded a lot better to me when it was performed acoustically. The message and the emotions of the song can be heard a lot clearer in the acoustic version, I think.

Here it is, my opinion of the AURORA’s first album! I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I did writing it! You can listen to All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend on Spotify or you can buy it on iTunes. I think you should definitely check out AURORA’s music, it’s worth it and you won’t be disappointed, I promise. Let me know in the comments below what your thoughts are on her album and what your favourite songs are from it in the comments below or on Twitter! See you soon! :)

Love, Tanya by Tanya Burr| Book Review

Hi! :)

Since I haven’t done a book review in a while, I thought now’s the time for it. It won’t be that long though, but I still wanted to share my opinion on this book that I’m going to talk about. As you all know, I love watching Youtube videos. Nowadays more and more Youtubers get the opportunity to get a book published. I don’t really get into that topic, so I’m only going to say that I have one or two Youtuber books. A book called Love, Tanya by Tanya Burr is not an exception.

24848380

I read Love, Tanya in January, even though I had it sitting on my shelf for a while. I was very interested in reading the book, just hadn’t got the time for it – or at least I had not bothered doing so. Usually I read a book in a couple of days, but this one lasted for about 2 weeks. I thought the book is very long considering what it is about, which is lifestyle, fashion, beauty, baking, etc. It kept me wanting to read more and I enjoyed it, but I realised that I don’t like biography-type books that much like a fiction novel.

I have to say, I think the book is very well structured and every chapter felt like it was at the right place in the book. I got to know a lot more facts about Tanya than through her videos, so it kept the book very intriguing. I love the idea of the lists she made in all of the chapters mainly at the end, where she listed her top 10 favourite things, memories or advice. This way the reader could get a bit more insight into her style, personality and the products she prefers using. She also wanted to get the readers involved in the book, so there were a few pages, where you could write down your answers to some of the questions by her.

There is a particular chapter in there, which I was probably the most excited for – and this is Baking. She mentions some of her favourite recipes in the baking chapter, some healthy and some not. Although I haven’t tried anything out yet, I can’t wait to bake something delicious cookies with the help of the book.

Lastly, I wanted to mention that I really like the cover, because it suits Tanya’s personality very well (from what I can see from her videos and blog posts), and the photography is escpecially nice as well.

Taken by me.

I recommend this book to everyone who wants to read something fun and relaxing. It is a very nice, calming and light read full of advice. I enjoyed this book a lot, because I could get a few relaxing hours while reading it and it didn’t kept me tense throughout the book like let’s say a novel would. Have you read Love, Tanya? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments below or tweet me! See you soon!

This Is Acting – Sia | Album Review

Hi! :)

I had waited for so long for Sia‘s ‘This Is Acting album to come out, that I felt blessed when it finally was released a week ago. I have listened to the album a few times so far and I have to admit that I absolutely love it.

The album itself is titled This Is Acting, because Sia put together the songs she wrote for other artists, but were rejected. She decided to make an entire album out of those songs and she couldn’t have done better in my opinion. As you can probably guess, because these tunes were not initially written for herself, the album is very diverse concerning the different genres appearing on it. I will try to write a few sentences about each song of the album.

sia-this-is-acting-2016-1200x1200

  1. Bird Set Free – It’s a song I have loved for a long time, because I think it has such a unique sound to it. As fas as I’m concerned Adele rejected this song, which I don’t mind at all. This song is so powerful and complements Sia’s voice beautifully. It was originally written for Pitch Perfect 2, which makes me so sad, I would have loved to hear it in the movie, since it’s one of my favourites.
  2. Alive – I adore this song. I love the lyrics and the rhythm, simply everything. It had been one of my favourites for months. Again, it was rejected by Adele. I have to repeat myself here, because it has such a powerful vibe and you feel like you can do anything after hearing this song.
  3. One Million Bullets – Surprisingly, this is the only song that Sia did not send to anyone and kept it for herself. I can understand it, because it suits Sia’s style perfectly. I still can’t get over what she can do with her voice in this song, it sounds incredibly hard to do.
  4. Move Your Body – You immediately think of Shakira when you hear this song. Yes, she rejected it. The rhythm is very upbeat and fun and would have suited Shakira’s style very well, I have no idea why she rejected this masterpiece.
  5. Unstoppable – It will be in my monthly favourites post, I can tell you right now. I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. It is really inspirational and speaks to my heart on a different level. I feel a close connection to this song and I’m not sure why Rihanna didn’t want to have this perfection on her album.
  6. Cheap Thrills – It’s basically the opposite of Bitch Better Have My Money by Rihanna, so if I look at this song, I completely understand now why Rihanna rejected it. I love Rihanna, so I don’t mind the Rihanna-vibe in this tune at all. It also has been in a couple of my ‘Songs Of The Month’ posts as well.
  7. Reaper – Yep, Rihanna again. Sia said in an interview that she thought it was a fun song, but did not anticipate it being on the record, she only put it on the album because her manager liked it. To be honest, it’s one of my least favourite songs from the album. I don’t feel a connection to it either. Although, I think that it is definitely a good song and it’s not a problem that it turned out to be on This Is Acting.
  8. House On Fire – The song was rejected by Katy Perry. I can’t say that much about this song, it is not one of my favourites, but for me personally, it’s a nice, relaxing song – don’t ask me why, I don’t know.
  9. Footprints – A Beyonce reject. In my opinion it very much sounds like a Beyonce song and she should have accepted the song. However, Sia made it sound magical.
  10. Sweet Design – I love how different it is. It was rejected by Beyonce, but it would have sounded amazing if she sang it. Don’t get me wrong, Sia sounds great in this song, it just isn’t her style at all. I like the song a lot though, especially because of its unique sound.
  11. Broken Glass – Demi Lovato rejected this song, but I can’t get around the reason why. It is a beautiful power ballad and I would never have guessed that it wasn’t written for Sia herfelf, because it is very similar to Sia’s usual songs in my opinion.
  12. Space Between – Sia originally offered this song to Rihanna, then asked for it back because she loved it so much. This is a heavenly ballad and compliments Sia’s voice unbelievably.

All in all, I am very satisfied with how the album turned out and I like the idea that she put together an entire album full of rejected songs. I think it’s amazing. I have never been disappointed in any Sia songs in my life, to be honest, and for me she is one of the most talented artists in the world right now, she’s incredible.

What do you think of This Is Acting? Do you enjoy it? Let me know in the comments below, or on Twitter, my username is @justkingablog. I hope you enjoyed reading this post and got inspired to listen to her album if you haven’t already.

I also have an announcement today. I decided to try my best to stick to a Friday upload on my blog. I tried to follow this schedule last year, but not always managed to and so far this year’s upload schedule has been all over the place. So this means that there will be a new post every Friday (I will try my best), and sometimes I will post bonus posts as well if I have something exciting to tell you. That’s all I had to say for now, I hope you’re having a lovely day. See you soon! :)

SourcedBox Review | January

Hi! :)

Late last year, when SourcedBox was announced I immediately knew I had to try it. I received this healthy snacking service as a gift for my birthday to encourage me to start eating healthier. I decided to write a review on it, because I could talk about it for so long.

Niomi Smart and Marcus Butler created SourcedBox, which launched in January. I wanted to give it a go, because the snacks seemed very interesting and they ship to Europe, which was definitely a plus. The box arrived in a green plastic packaging that looks really nice in my opinion. The design of the box is simple but effective. It seems professional and practical.

Inside there was a menu telling you a bit about all the snacks in the box. I will follow the menu’s order when I talk about the snacks. I would also like to add that every snack is made with natural ingredients, which I liked the idea of a lot.

IMG_20160112_181829.jpg

First come the Mylk Chocolate Buttons by Ombar. The packaging of these was the most unique out of all the others, because it’s made out of paper and it felt very different. It looks really nice and simple. There was a lot of hype around them, so I wondered what’s so good in these and was eager to try these buttons. These are chocolate buttons with no dairy in them after all. I have to say they taste very coconuty in my opinion and the quality of the dark chocolate is unbelievable. They tasted absolutely amazing and now I get what the hype is for, too. I would recommend these to anyone who likes dark chocolate anytime.

IMG_20160112_184249

The Pecan, Cinnamon & Lucuma Flapjack by Naturally Sassy is incredible. I love everything about it. The packaging is nothing like I’ve ever seen before, it’s very exciting and eye-catching. I hadn’t known what lucuma was until I saw this and looked it up, but it fitted really well with the other ingredients. The flapjack tasted almost the same as the filling of a Hungarian dessert called zserb√≥ – which I liked a lot. All I could taste is the cinnamon and the pecan in it and it was almost heavenly, all the flavours complimented each other very well. I would buy it anytime if I could.

IMG_20160112_184159.jpg

I will talk about the Mini Rice Thins by Rude Health and the Coconut and Almond Butter by Pip & Nut at once, because I ate them together as it was suggested. I have always known about rice thins but never really enjoyed eating them. However, these actually tasted fine and had the right amount of flavour to them, not like the other ones I’ve tried before. Since I snacked on them together with the butter, it made the experience even more enjoyable. The butter was very similar to peanut butter, just tasted healthier and was sweeter. These were great for an afternoon snack for me.

I had high expectations for the Maca Bliss Raw Choc Brownie by Pulsin’, because I wanted to eat a delicious brownie, which was good for me. To be honest, it did exactly that. It was tasty, but not as great as a brownie I would normally eat. It was a healthier version of it and although I was a bit disappointed because of my high expectations, it still had almost the same flavour as a regular brownie. I liked it and surprisingly it was very filling as well.

IMG_20160112_184220.jpg

I was so keen on trying out the Pizza Seed Toasts by Science Kitchen. The name got me very excited, because I was craving some healthy pizza. I have to say that compared to the other snacks in this box, this one has the least nice packaging. Although, I believe that the inside is what really matters. I will be completely honest here. I did not like them. In my opinion they taste nothing like pizza and they tasted too healthy for me. I tried to enjoy them so much, but I just didn’t like what they tasted like and I was expecting the flavour of pizza. It was nice to try them out, but they weren’t my favourite.

IMG_20160112_184114.jpg

The Rosehip & Lemon Bar by LoveRaw seemed very intriguing to me for some reason. It tasted really interesting and unusual, too. I definitely haven’t had anything like this bar before. The bar had a pleasant flavour to it and I was surprised how well rosehip and lemon go together.

IMG_20160112_184238.jpg

The Chocolate Mylk by Rebel Kitchen was one of the snacks I was looking forward to the most to try. Although I don’t like chocolate milk, I was interested in how this chocolate mylk tasted like since it didn’t have dairy in it. I have to say I was very-very impressed! It was amazing and heavenly. I could drink liters of it, I absolutely loved it. The design of the packaging is one of my favourites, too.

IMG_20160112_184126

There were two teas by the Bluebird Tea Co. in the box, but on the menu only the Dozy Girl Tea is mentioned. The other is called Honey Bee Beautiful. I haven’t tried any of these yet, so unfortunately I can’t say that much about them, but I have heard so many good things about this brand that I am absolutely sure I will enjoy these teas. I don’t know if it’s a British thing or not, but I like the fact that the tea bags are made out of this silky material so they’re more durable.

IMG_20160112_184307.jpg

I was the least excited about the Organic Persian Mulberry Promix by Wyldsson, because it’s just a mix of seeds, nuts and fruit. However, I was blown away by the taste of the mixture. It was very enjoyable and tasted quite sweet, which I liked a lot. I would give it another go anytime.

IMG_20160112_184149

I was a hundred percent most excited to try out the Broccoli Crisps by The Giving Tree. I adore broccoli so I couldn’t wait to snack on these crisps. They tasted very healthy and they are a great alternative to crisps. I was so sad when they were gone! I also am in love with the design, it’s really creative.

IMG_20160112_184043.jpg

Last, but not least the Fruit Jerky by Snact was actually the first thing I tried out of this box. I was very surprised, because it was made out of surplus food, but still tasted very yummy. I love the fact that they use surplus food to make something delicious without wasting edible food.

IMG_20160112_183956.jpg

These were the snacks in the January box. I hope you liked this review, I know it was a bit different from what I normally write about. It was fun to write about, because I enjoyed the products in this SourcedBox and would highly recommend to anyone to try out. Unfortunately, they only ship to Europe as of right now, but I’m sure they will expand further in the future. I will receive a box in February as well, which will sadly be my last one. For a Hungarian like me it is not that easy to buy a box like this every month, but I think it really is worth it and great for your body at the same time. You can check their website out by clicking HERE.

If you don’t already know, I made a Twitter for my blog not long ago. You can follow me if you want to by clicking HERE. My username is @justkingablog. I hope you enjoyed reading this post! See you soon! :)

Dream A Little Dream Review | Blogmas Day 23

Hi! :)

About a few months ago I read a book by Giovanna Fletcher, called Dream a Little Dream. I think it would be the greatest book to read in winter, so I thought I would do a bit of a review of it.

To be honest, I hadn’t had much thought to this book, I hadn’t had high expectations, I bought it only because of the cover of it and because of the fact that Giovanna wrote it. But it actually surprised me a lot and became one of my favourite books.

dald

Firstly, the cover of it looks very-very lovely and warm. The illustration is really cute. It immediately caught my eyes. Then I read the back of the book, where there’s a little preview of what the book is about. I was a bit disappointed to be completely honest, because it didn’t excite me that much. To me it seemed very boring. Here it is:

“Sarah is doing just fine. Sure she’s been single for the last five years, and has to spend an uncomfortable amount of time around her ex-boyfriend, his perfect new girlfriend and all their mutual friends. And yes, her job as a PA to one of the most disgusting men in London is mind-numbingly tedious and her career is a constant disappointment to her mother. But it’s really okay. She’s happy (ish).

But it’s not surprising that when Sarah starts dreaming about a handsome stranger, she begins to look forward to falling asleep every night. Reality isn’t nearly as exciting. That is until her dream-stranger makes an unexpected real-life appearance, leaving Sarah questioning everything she thought she wanted.

Because no one ever really finds the person of their dreams… do they?”

However, when I started to read the book, it instantly got me interested in what’s going to happen. The book is very slow paced in my opinion, which was the main reason why it was so intriguing and fascinating. The story is well-written and it’s easy to read, which keeps you in a good “wanting to read more” mood. I love that the story isn’t in medias res, but it has a quite long introduction-like part, which slowly lets you get into the plot of the book. I love it because the reader is left with the feeling of wanting more and more.

The book is about 400 pages long, but it doesn’t feel that long. I finished reading the book in 3 days when I was on holiday and I couldn’t put it down, it is that good. It’s a very sweet, romantic story full of surprises and original very funny jokes. I think the title is fabulous, really suits the story.

I would recommend this book to everyone who wants to read something light and lovely and to feel happy and calm after having read the book. It seriously is one of the best books I have ever had, completely surprised me. Read Dream a Little Dream, it’s worth it!

I hope you enjoyed reading the last post of Blogmas. All this time flew by so quickly and it’s Christmas in a few days. I can’t believe it! Let me know what you thought about Blogmas, I quite enjoyed doing it! Have a beautiful day and a very merry Christmas! See you soon!

Revival – Selena Gomez (Album)

Hi! :)

One of my favourite pop artists, Selena Gomez, has released a new album, called Revival. I can’t think of how long I had been waiting for it, but the time finally came today. I have supported her since the very beginning and it’s an incredible feeling to see her music and talent grow. I wouldn’t say she is the best singer in the world, because she definitely is not. Her voice is very soft and weak, but she improved a lot over the past few years and she’s getting better and better. I am very proud of her, I think this album really is her revival and it’s her time. It’s a lot different from “Stars Dance“, her previous album, which was very upbeat. However, this album is a lot softer, sophisticated and elegant. The songs on the album are very personal and meaningful, so I feel honoured to get the opportunity of listening to the album. Since it only was released today, I haven’t listened to it that much, but I think I have my favourites in my mind, which I will highlight by writing the title of the songs using bold letters. Here is the list of songs from the deluxe version.
