Mind Of Mine – ZAYN (Album)

Hi! :)

As you all probably know, Zayn Malik quit One Direction a year ago. His first solo album was released on 25th March, and there was a huge hype around it. I thought it would be fun to tell you which songs I like the most from the album.

Zayn’s new music is definitely different from what he was involved in for years. I’m not sure if I am a fan of this style of music, but it’s not a bad album at all. I’m sure he will be pretty successful on his own (he already is to be honest), too, because his tunes are very likable and catchy. I enjoy listening to his music a lot though, especially to the songs that are my favourite. The release date is a bit ironic, because that’s the exact date of when he left the band last year. The album cover is a picture of him from his childhood plus some of his current tattoos edited on him. The capitalization of the song titles is very unique and kind of reminds me of Margo Roth Spiegelman‘s from Paper Towns. Here are the songs, my favourites being highlighted.

  1. MiNd Of MiNdd (Intro)
  3. iT’s YoU
  4. BeFoUr
  5. sHe
  6. dRuNk
  8. rEaR vIeW
  9. wRoNg ft. Kehlani
  10. fOol fOr YoU
  11. BoRdErSz
  12. tRuTh
  13. lUcOzAdE
  14. TiO
  15. BLUE
  16. BRIGHT
  19. PILLOWTALK – the living room session
  20. PILLOWTALK REMIX ft. Lil Wayne and Jaegen

I feel like looking at my most preferred songs of the album, I’m leaning more towards the slower-paced songs, which usually isn’t like me. My absolute favourites are iT’s YoU and fOol fOr YoU, they both sound amazing and beautiful. Which song do you like the most from Mind Of Mine? Let me know in the comments below! You can listen to this album on Spotify or you can buy it on iTunes. See you soon! :)

All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend – AURORA (Album)

Hi! :)

I discovered AURORA a very long time ago and have been enjoying her music ever since. I was incredibly excited about her debut album coming out in March. In my opinion she is an artist who simply never makes a bad song. There is something unique in each and every song of hers. The whole All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend album feels magical and I love listening to it. There’s a mix of slower and more dinamic tunes on the album, which makes it even more interesting. She wrote some of these when she was very young, around about 12 years old even. She is one of my all-time favourite artists, and she never disappoints.

I thought I would share my most favourite songs of her album, however it wasn’t easy to not choose all the 17 songs as my most loved ones, haha. I will highlight the songs of the album I like the most.

  1. Runaway
  2. Conqueror
  3. Running With The Wolves
  4. Lucky
  5. Winter Bird
  6. I Went Too Far
  7. Through The Eyes Of A Child
  8. Warrior
  9. Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)
  10. Home
  11. Under The Water
  12. Black Water Lilies
  13. Half The World Away
  14. Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) (Acoustic)
  15. Nature Boy (Acoustic)
  16. Wisdom Cries
  17. Running With The Wolves (Pablo Nouvelle Remix)

Runaway was the first song I heard of hers and has stuck with me ever since. She wrote it at a very young age, which astonishes me – that she created something so beautiful being so young and innocent.

Conqueror is one of the quicker-paced songs of the album. I love the strength of it, I always feel so powerful after listening to it.

Winter Bird is one that I often catch myself singing. The lyrics are beautiful.

Warrior is another poweful song, and I especially love the rhythm of this tune, it’s very catchy.

Black Water Lilies is my absolute favourite at the moment. It is pure magic. You just have to listen to it, it feels angelic.

Half The World Away is an Oasis cover, which was written for the John Lewis Christmas commercial. I listened to this song hundreds of times and could not get enough of it. I think she did justice for the original song.

Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) sounded a lot better to me when it was performed acoustically. The message and the emotions of the song can be heard a lot clearer in the acoustic version, I think.

Here it is, my opinion of the AURORA’s first album! I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I did writing it! You can listen to All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend on Spotify or you can buy it on iTunes. I think you should definitely check out AURORA’s music, it’s worth it and you won’t be disappointed, I promise. Let me know in the comments below what your thoughts are on her album and what your favourite songs are from it in the comments below or on Twitter! See you soon! :)

March Thoughts

Hi! :)

Today I wanted to have a very brief chat with you about what’s been happening lately, kind of an update. I’m planning a couple of posts, which will be fun, but right now I’m in a chatty mood, so I decided on doing a life update instead.

Well, it’s finally the weekend! Spring break will start at the end of next week in Hungary, and it will only last for six days this year, which is kind of upsetting. I’m looking forward to it though, because I will read a lot then. However, I know that I will spend the majority of the break studying and preparing for my final exams at the beginning in May. By the way I’m so terrified! I can’t for it to be over (at the end of June…)! Having a planner made my life so much better and I am a lot better at organizing my school related stuff as well.

As you know, I did a book haul the other day and got lots of books (for me they seem a lot anyway). After I had finished the Hungarian book last week, I immediately started reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio. I read this book last night and thought it was incredible and such a beautiful story. So now I’m in a dilemma as to which book to start reading, but I’ll report you on what my decision will be later. I still am in love with Goodreads, it’s like the dream website of bookworms.

A photo from this week. x

In general I’m such a pessimist, and I hate to admit that. I always say that I’m an optimist, but I am really not. So about a week or so ago, I decided to try my best to change my perspectives on the world and look for the most positive moments in my day. It made me realise how nice I can feel on a casual school day if I don’t always worry about things that should not even bother me in the first place. Of course, I have bad days as well as every single person in the world, but at least I’m trying to get the most out of even the crappiest day.

How was your day? Tell me about it, I would genuinely love to know! I hope you enjoyed reading this post. See you soon! :)

March Book Haul

Hi! :)

The other day I ordered a bunch of books from Amazon and from a Hungarian website for a bargain price. I received the package today, and I thought I would do a book haul on it, since I am so excited about reading all of them.

The first book I bought is Wonder by R.J. Palacio. I think the cover of it seems very interesting, and for me the story got me interested in it immediately. I believe it is about a child, who has some kind of a facial abnormality and tries to be accepted by everyone else when he’s sent to a school.

Another book I am eager to read is Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I’ve heard a lot of great things about it and that it’s a beautiful story about a girl who applies for a job, which is to help a guy who had a motorcycle accident (I know I’m not the best at describing things). There will be a movie adaptation coming out later this year, too, and the trailer seems amazing.

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson is a book I don’t know that much about, but still heard awesome opinions about it. All I know is that it deals with twins who are drifing apart from each other, but then something happens that changes everything.

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon is about a girl, who is allergic to everything and has never left her house. Then one day she looks out her window and notices a guy who has just moved there and he catches her looking and stares at her. That’s when everything starts. I am so excited to read this book! The storyline really interests me, and I absolutely love the cover.

The next book I ordered is called The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson. It’s about a boy who wants to be a girl, as simple as that. I think the story is very unique, because that’s definitely not a topic I have ever read about, so I’m quite interested in it.

Last, but not least I got Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz in Hungarian. The cover is the same and I think it’s gorgeous, probably my favourite cover out of all of these. I’m not sure of the story, but I know that it’s about a special friendship. After seeing the cover, I am psyched about starting this book soon.

These are the books I will be reading in the next few months. What is a book you’re currently reading? Let me know in the comments below! Right now I am reading a book by a Hungarian author. I hope you’ll have a lovely day! See you soon! :)

Thoughts On Books

Hi! :)

As you may or may not know, I got into reading again this year. I discovered so much more about different types of books that I did not even know existed. I have been watching a couple of Booktubers who read about 5-10 books a month on an average. For me, it is unimaginable. I have always been someone who read a lot in the summer, then in about 6 months after that only 2 or 3. However, in 2016 I have read 4 books so far and I’m pretty happy about that, because it is very unlike me. I set a goal on Goodreads of reading 12 books this year, and I think I can achieve that!

Gave this book 3 stars out of 5. This popcorn was insanely delicious! (I’m craving it now, haha)

I read three books in English last month and now I’m reading a book in Hungarian, which was written in the mid-1900s, so it’s another new thing for me to try out, because I have only read quite modern novels. It’s nice to finally experiment with the genres and the eras as well, which is definitely not something I’ve done before.

Something I thought about is how wonderful and fascinating the fact that we can immerse in reading a book and not care about the outside world for a little while is. It’s crazy that we can be so interested in a book, that we just sit in one place for hours in order to get to know the characters better and what happens to them. We connect to these characters and then feel like a part of ourselves live in the book we’re reading as well. I love how we can forget about our problems for a few hours. A book may even change our perspective on something and it’s so powerful. I love how some words have so much power in them if they are used in the right environment at the right time.

That’s all I wanted to say today about books. I just love them in general. And so you know, I go on Goodreads at least twice every day, I think I might be addicted, haha. Do you like reading? If so, what’s the last book you’ve read? Let me know in the comments below, I’d be interested to know! See you soon! :)
