I love to make gingerbread around Christmas time, so I thought I would share a recipe with you that I tried out recently.
You are going to need:
4 tbs. honey
300g flour (about 2 cups)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1 1/2 tsp. gingerbread spice mix
100g butter (about 1/2 cup)
150g brown sugar (about 3/4 cup or a bit more)
First you have to preheat your oven to 190 degrees celsius (374 degrees fahrenheit). Then sieve the flour together with the baking soda, ginger and gingerbread spice. Add the butter and crumble it to look almost like bread crumbs. Add the sugar, too. Beat up the egg and mix it with the honey. After it pour it into the bowl of dry ingredients. Mix it with a wooden spoon, then with the help of your hands work the mixture until it stays in one piece. On a board that is sprinkled with flour roll the dough to approximately 5mm thickness. Then create figures that you’d like using some kind of mold. Put the figures on a baking sheet into a baking tray, and bake them for about 10-12 minutes until the cookies are golden brown. After they cooled down, you could decorate them if you wanted to. And that’s it!
Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of my gingerbread Christmas trees, but I promise they were absolutely delicious. Will you try out this recipe? Let me know in the comments below if so! I hope you enjoyed reading this post! See you tomorrow!
