Dream A Little Dream Review | Blogmas Day 23

Hi! :)

About a few months ago I read a book by Giovanna Fletcher, called Dream a Little Dream. I think it would be the greatest book to read in winter, so I thought I would do a bit of a review of it.

To be honest, I hadn’t had much thought to this book, I hadn’t had high expectations, I bought it only because of the cover of it and because of the fact that Giovanna wrote it. But it actually surprised me a lot and became one of my favourite books.

Firstly, the cover of it looks very-very lovely and warm. The illustration is really cute. It immediately caught my eyes. Then I read the back of the book, where there’s a little preview of what the book is about. I was a bit disappointed to be completely honest, because it didn’t excite me that much. To me it seemed very boring. Here it is:

“Sarah is doing just fine. Sure she’s been single for the last five years, and has to spend an uncomfortable amount of time around her ex-boyfriend, his perfect new girlfriend and all their mutual friends. And yes, her job as a PA to one of the most disgusting men in London is mind-numbingly tedious and her career is a constant disappointment to her mother. But it’s really okay. She’s happy (ish).

But it’s not surprising that when Sarah starts dreaming about a handsome stranger, she begins to look forward to falling asleep every night. Reality isn’t nearly as exciting. That is until her dream-stranger makes an unexpected real-life appearance, leaving Sarah questioning everything she thought she wanted.

Because no one ever really finds the person of their dreams… do they?”

However, when I started to read the book, it instantly got me interested in what’s going to happen. The book is very slow paced in my opinion, which was the main reason why it was so intriguing and fascinating. The story is well-written and it’s easy to read, which keeps you in a good “wanting to read more” mood. I love that the story isn’t in medias res, but it has a quite long introduction-like part, which slowly lets you get into the plot of the book. I love it because the reader is left with the feeling of wanting more and more.

The book is about 400 pages long, but it doesn’t feel that long. I finished reading the book in 3 days when I was on holiday and I couldn’t put it down, it is that good. It’s a very sweet, romantic story full of surprises and original very funny jokes. I think the title is fabulous, really suits the story.

I would recommend this book to everyone who wants to read something light and lovely and to feel happy and calm after having read the book. It seriously is one of the best books I have ever had, completely surprised me. Read Dream a Little Dream, it’s worth it!

I hope you enjoyed reading the last post of Blogmas. All this time flew by so quickly and it’s Christmas in a few days. I can’t believe it! Let me know what you thought about Blogmas, I quite enjoyed doing it! Have a beautiful day and a very merry Christmas! See you soon!

5 Festive Nail Ideas | Blogmas Day 22

Hi! :)

I was looking for inspiration on Pinterest for festive nail ideas and I found some very gorgeous ones, so I thought it would be nice to share them with you. I love wearing nail polish, and I am usually a lot braver with it in winter then I normally would be around a different time of year. I picked out five ideas from Pinterest, which might give you inspiration as well.

Which ideas do you like the most? I love the third option, that cream colour goes very well with the Christmassy sparkles. Although, I think I will finally go for the first dark sparkly look, because that is the easiest and I love dark nail polish. See you tomorrow!

Last Minute Gift Ideas | Blogmas Day 21

Hi! :)

There are only a few days left till Christmas, so I thought I would try to help those, who haven’t done their Christmas shopping yet and are panicking in the last moment. I gathered 10 Christmas gift ideas (mainly for girls) from Amazon so that I might help out someone with one of these ideas. I picked out products, which I would be glad to receive – and maybe one of your loved ones, too. These gifts are rather stocking fillers as you’d call them (we don’t have those in Hungary), so little bits and bobs.

  1. This first one might seem a bit weird, but as someone who loves to use different coloured markers, I’d be the happiest if I received this pack of 24 Sharpie permanent markers. 1
  2. This Dove gift set is for women. It contains a hand cream, a body wash and a cream pot. It also comes in a washbag, which I think looks very gorgeous. 2
  3. I’ve heard lots of great things about a book called NOPI: The Cookbook. It has very nice pictures in it and apparently yummy recipes as well.             3
  4. Christmas is the appropriate occassion to give a Christmas album as a gift to someone. So of course, I had to include Michael Bublé’s Christmas album. You can never go wrong with a gift like this in my opinion. 4
  5. This Nivea Mini Treats gift set looks amazing and it’s such a good idea. You get a lip balm, a shower cream, moisturising cream and a roll-on deodorant for a very-very cheap price. I think it’s amazing. 5.jpg
  6. Girl Online: On Tour is Zoe Sugg’s second book, which I haven’t got yet, but I’d love to. I think any book in general is a great gift idea, because you can never go wrong with it. You will always be able to find at least one book, which suits that particular person’s taste. I know I have already included a book in this list, but I just couldn’t resist to share another one with you, sorry, haha!6
  7. I think a board game shouldn’t only be fun when you’re a child, it can be enjoyable for any age. It’s a very nice gift as well. 7
  8. Jewellery doesn’t have to be something very expensive, it can be beautiful and just as unique when it’s a bit more affordable. Personally, I don’t like expensive jewellery that much, because then I’d be a lot more upset if something happened to it. For some reason I can not upload a picture of the item I picked, but you can see it by clicking on the first word of this paragraph.
  9. I forget to buy a new calendar or a journal every single year, and I’m sure I am not the only one with this issue. Giving a journal to someone is a really thoughtful idea, especially if it is costumised for the person you are giving it to. 9
  10. Finally, most grown ups still like to play with toys, they are just too scared to admit it. Getting a toy at an older age feels as exciting as when you’re a kid, I’m sure. A toy makes a great and fun stocking filler. 10

Here are some ideas of what to get as a gift for Christmas. I hope you enjoyed reading this post, and that you are already done with your Christmas shopping or almost done! See you tomorrow!

Gingerbread Recipe | Blogmas Day 20

Hi! :)

I love to make gingerbread around Christmas time, so I thought I would share a recipe with you that I tried out recently.

You are going to need:

4 tbs. honey

300g flour (about 2 cups)

1 tsp. baking soda

1 1/2 tsp. ground ginger

1 1/2 tsp. gingerbread spice mix

100g butter (about 1/2 cup)

150g brown sugar (about 3/4 cup or a bit more)

1 egg

First you have to preheat your oven to 190 degrees celsius (374 degrees fahrenheit). Then sieve the flour together with the baking soda, ginger and gingerbread spice. Add the butter and crumble it to look almost like bread crumbs. Add the sugar, too. Beat up the egg and mix it with the honey. After it pour it into the bowl of dry ingredients. Mix it with a wooden spoon, then with the help of your hands work the mixture until it stays in one piece. On a board that is sprinkled with flour roll the dough to approximately 5mm thickness. Then create figures that you’d like using some kind of mold. Put the figures on a baking sheet into a baking tray, and bake them for about 10-12 minutes until the cookies are golden brown. After they cooled down, you could decorate them if you wanted to. And that’s it!

Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of my gingerbread Christmas trees, but I promise they were absolutely delicious. Will you try out this recipe? Let me know in the comments below if so! I hope you enjoyed reading this post! See you tomorrow!

This picture is just an illustration, these gingerbread were not made using this recipe.

Youtubers – Tanya Burr | Blogmas Day 19

Hi! :)

I have talked a lot about Tanya Burr lately, since she loves Christmas and has made some nice festive videos so far. So I decided to write another post of ‘Youtubers’, because I haven’t done it in ages. I thought it would be the perfect time to write about her as part of Blogmas.

Tanya Burr is a 26-year-old Youtuber from Norwich, England. She currently lives in London with her husband, Jim Chapman who is also a Youtuber. They got married this year. Her channel specializes mainly in beauty and fashion videos, but she makes lifestyle videos as well. She is doing vlogmas at the moment, too. She has been on Youtube since 2009, which is crazy! I first saw one of her videos around 2011 I think, and it’s incredible to see how far she has come since then.

In 2014 she released her own make-up line called Tanya Burr Cosmetics. It consists of products that she put together to fit her taste perfectly, containing nail polishes, eye lashes, lip glosses, different kind of palettes and so on. Her line is very popular and she continues to come out with new products quite often because of the huge demand.

She wrote a book called Love, Tanya, which was published early 2015 by Penguin Books. It is an autobiography that contains baking, beauty and fashion sections as well. I have this book, too, but I haven’t had the time to read it yet, and I am currently reading another one. I might post a review about her book though if you’re interested.

She was on the cover of the December issue of Glamour magazine in the UK, which is a pretty big deal. It shows the size of Youtube and that team Internet can do anything. I am so proud of her.

I like Tanya, because in my opinion she is one of the loveliest people on Youtube and she seems very sweet. She is really genuine and honest. I love watching her baking videos, becuase of seeing how much joy she has while baking. I also like watching her beauty videos, even though I can’t put on make-up, because I am that clumsy. Her beauty videos seem very professional, and you can see throughout her videos how much she has improved since the beginning.

I recommend everyone to check out her channel, just click here! I hope you enjoyed reading this post. I certainly did like writing it. See you tomorrow!

Christmas Is Coming! | Blogmas Day 18

Hi! :)

I am here with a little update, because I didn’t have that much time to write a post I would have liked to write for you today.

The winter break officially started for me today! Yay! I have waited for this moment to finally arrive for so long. I’ll have a two week long Christmas holiday, which I am very excited about! My plan is to sleep a lot, because I haven’t been able to do that lately, so it should be nice. I also want to watch lots of Christmas films, because I haven’t had time yet, which is a shame. I always planned to watch movies in the afternoons after school, but I ended up preparing for the next day or just trying to relax.

There’s less than a week till Christmas! Blogmas is almost over, but I still have a few posts on their way, I can’t wait to share them with you. I hope you’re having a lovely day! See you tomorrow!
