As the majority of you know, I’m from Hungary. I thought I would write a post about my country, because a lot of people don’t even know, what Hungary is. Let’s start with the basics.
Hungary is a country in Central Europe with the population of 10 million people, so it definitely isn’t a huge country as you can tell. The country is very green, we have a lot of plains, but we also have mountains in the North (and some in the South as well). The highest mountain is 1014 m high, so it’s not that outstanding, but Hungarians are proud about the fact that we have a mountain higher than a thousand meters, called Kékes. We don’t have a seaside, but we call Lake Balaton, the biggest lake in Hungary, the Hungarian sea. Lake Balaton is a very attractive tourist sight, when someone is being on a holiday in Hungary, it is 80% sure that the person also visits Lake Balaton. It is 77 km long, and the view is beautiful.
Hungary’s capital city is Budapest. It’s the largest city in Hungary, and its population is 1,7 million. Hungary’s two biggest rivers are the Danube, and the Tisza. One of Budapest’s main sights is the Danube, and from one side of the river you can take good photos of the Hungarian Parliament.
Hungary has a lot of castles/fortresses, and the most famous is the so-called Buda Castle.
There are also other incredibly gorgeous castles. There are a few of them.
Heroes Square is the biggest, widest square of Budapest, and is also part of World Heritage. The monumental work is a tribute to our heroes who took part in World War I.
The Basilica of Esztergom built in classicist style is a great is also a great tourist destination.
Széchényi fürdő is one of Europe’s greatest spa complexes. It’s special because of its thermal water, which is good for people having problem with their health. It definitely will help.
I think that’s it for today, I didn’t want to write a novel for you, even if I could. I know, this is mainly about Budapest, but if you are interested in other sights and cities in Hungary then let me know, and I will do another post about it. I hope you enjoyed this post, and got to know a little bit more about Hungary. There are a huge amount of foreigners living here, mainly because of education in universities. There are also famous festivals you can go to when you’re here in the summer, so if you want to read more about these stuff, then I’d be happy to share my thoughts with you. Thanks for reading! I’ll be back soon! :)
